Geography

At Thameside Primary School, the teaching of the Geography curriculum has been carefully considered to enable our pupils to become geographers.

We believe that Geography helps to provoke and provide answers to questions about the natural and human aspects of the world. Children are encouraged to develop a greater understanding and knowledge of the world, as well as their place in it.

The geography curriculum at Thameside enables children to develop knowledge and skills by building on their curiosity to learn about the world around them. At Thameside, we encourage all children to be ‘Geographers’ by ensuring that all the children understand explicitly that they are learning geographical knowledge and skills within a lesson and a sequence of lessons. As the children progress through the curriculum they will deepen their understanding of the diverse nature of the planet in both the physical processes and that the communities that exist on it.
